The ECWCS  Footwear consists of three items :

The cuscion sole, wool socks, and the extreme cold weather boots (Black and White)

Boots, Cold Weather (Type I - Black) Mickey Mouse Boot

Materials Used

The boots are made of rubber, latex, wool fleece, and nylon tricot.

Concept of Use

The black boots provide protection against the environment down to -20°F (-29°C).

Description of Item

Both the black boots are about 11 inches (29 cm) in height and has six pairs of eyelets.
The insulation of the black boot consists of two layers of wool fleece sealed within an outer and inner layer of rubber.

Boots, Cold Weather (Type II - White) Bunny Boots

Materials Used

The boots are made of rubber, latex, wool fleece, and nylon tricot.

Concept of Use

The white boots provide protection against the environment down to -60°F (-51°C)..

Description of Item

The white boots are about 11 inches (29 cm) in height and has six pairs of eyelets.
The insulation of the white boot consists of three layers of wool fleece sealed within an outer and inner layer of rubber.

Both  Boots (Type I,II) have an air valve on each of the boots. These air valves must be opened only prior to flying, to ensure that the air pressure differential between the walls of the boot and the outside air does not cause the boots to rupture
